The Cross Keys Inn Pub – situated on site beside the Lodges, The Cross Keys Inn pub is unfortunately closed for refurbishment at present, but will be reopening shortly.

British Ironworks – The British Ironworks Centre and Sculpture Park, Oswestry has a cafe, handmade attractions, birthplace of the Knife Angel & Spoon Gorilla. An ideal afternoon out for the family. https://www.britishironworkcentre.co.uk/

Cambrian Railway – historic trainline currently under restoration will open again with a line from Oswestry town centre to Weston Oswestry (adjacent to the stonehouse brewery)
Lake Vyrnwy – A Victorian dam and reservoir with a hotel/restaurant overlooking the valley below is one to visit.
Llanrhaeader Waterfall – The highest waterfall in Wales is only a short 25 minute drive away and definitely worth a visit. You can even walk up to the top and enjoy the views of the cascading waterfall from above.
Walking – A host of countryside walks including the Offa’s Dyke Path, Glyndwr’s Way, forestry walks and stunning hilltop paths. All within easy reach of the lodges.
Fishing – Onsite fishing available upon request.
Mountain biking & cycling – ebikes can be hired from Oswestry or pedal power will take you on a fantastic journey around the Welsh countryside. World class mountain biking is available at Coed-y-Brenin Forest, Llandegla Forest & Revolution Bike Park at Llangynog . Or gentler options include circumnavigating Lake Vyrnwy.
Powis Castle – Situated just outside Welshpool town, a wonderful castle to explore both inside and around their beautiful gardens with peacocks and deer wandering freely. Visit the national trust website here.
Chirk Castle – a welcoming cafe after a short hill climb to another one of Wales’ fine castles. Visit the national trust website here.
Shooting – High class shooting is available in the area from clay to driven bird.
Snowdonia – a National Park for a very good reason. Well worth exploring. Either hike or catch the train to the top of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.
Llanfair Welshpool Railway – A short drive to Welshpool or Llanfair Caereinion will find the stations of this charming light steam railway with vintage carriages. Visit https://wllr.org.uk/
Easy reach of the coast – within an hours drive, you could visit the coastal fishing villages of Barmouth or Aberdyfi. A little further to Aberystwyth, Harlech (with coastline castle) or further along to the Llyn Peninsula.

Shrewsbury – Charles Darwin’s birthplace and historic county town of Shropshire with military castle museum, historic prison and narrow cobbled streets. You can also catch a show at the Theatre Severn.
